Although the Wii version of Twilight Princess was the first Zelda title to experiment with motion controls, the game wasn’t initially developed with those controls in mind. Admittedly, I prefer the Wii version, but it’s clear that Link and Midna’s adventure was originally a GameCube game. Skyward Sword, on the other hand, took full advantage of the console’s capabilities with the advent of Wii MotionPlus. That said, its control scheme might be among the most polarizing elements of any individual…

Well hey there, guys! Mailbag #89 is here. Before jumping into the questions I address something relating to the marathon last week, as well as correct myself on one of last week’s questions. As for the actual mailbag, this week we’ve got 14 questions, nice variety but with some particular attention on Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and Skyward Sword. Enjoy, and be sure to tell me your thoughts in the comments. You can watch it here or check out…

Okay guys, here’s the video I promised last time. This is a video discussion about a control scheme compromise I’m proposing for Zelda Wii U. You can watch the video here or check out the video embed after the jump. As you probably know, Nintendo’s talked about using Wii MotionPlus again in the next console Zelda game, and I’ve also made a prediction that they’ll do this. However, recently Miyamoto suggested they will be changing the controls based on feedback…

Over the past few months there have been many comments, praises, and complaints made of the motion control scheme of Skyward Sword. But now a few clever individuals managed to find a way to play the game on their PCs using an Xbox 360 controller. Youtube members Raullink and Adczooropa give us a look at the various controls during gameplay with the 360 controller and show exactly how well it performs. They have provided videos showing the controls during the…

Youtube user RoccoB64 has uploaded a video providing a hilarious look at some of the frustration that can occur with Skyward Swords motion controls. Rocco takes these problems and reenacts them in public, gaining some amusing reactions from onlookers. It’s not every day you see a man walking the streets with a Wii remote in his hand, appearing to control some guy dressed as Link. Although, I’m sure if I saw that I would be a lot more excited than…

In a recent interview with Eiji Aonuma, he reveals to the official Nintendo magazine that future installments of the Legend of Zelda will use motion controls like in Skyward Sword. After the success of Skyward Sword’s motion controls, Aonuma can’t see Zelda going back to the traditional button controls, even though he had doubts about motion controls during Skyward Sword’s development. Miyamoto also stated back in September that going back to button controls will be difficult. Eiji Aonuma:I honestly think…

Goddess cubes, flying, the stamina meter, shield meter, and many other new additions are just a few. Our featured thread for today…

Well here’s one that has been uploaded by AJLStunts, who has taken the meaning of 1:1 motion controls seriously. Really seriously. Jump inside to see what I’m talking about!

The folks at Destructoid have written a new article discussing the control scheme of Skyward Sword and how that affected the review score last week. The article mostly comes as an explanation as to why the reviewer gave the game a 9.5 rating. He states that there was some criticism about the grade he gave so this article was an addition to his review so he could fully explain just why he thought that forcing a control scheme on players…
