Swords Upgrades

Master Sword
Adult
The mystical sword from many of the other Zelda titles makes an appearance! It's the only thing that can defeat the King of Evil, so it's a good thing you get it, huh? This trusty blade fits your new size and has further range than your Kokiri treasure. Your Spin Attack is quite improved with it as well.

You receive this blade shortly after getting the three Spiritual Stones and opening the Door of Time.

Biggoron's Sword
Adult
This two handed blade does twice the damage of the Master Sword! You can't use your shield while you wield it however... It's very handy to take down some of the harder "big health" enemies such as Stalfos, and it's excellent against almost all of the bosses, in particular Dark Link and Bongo Bongo. Unfortunately, it's awkward to use against flying enemies like Keese and Guays or ranged foes.

You get this sword from Biggoron atop Death Mountain (thus, the name). It's the end reward of a very lengthy trading sequence.
 


Shield Upgrades

Hylian Shield
Both
The second shield of the game, this trustworthy defense is made of steel and won't burn up like your last shield. Unfortunately, it's too big for you as a child and leaves you to hide under it rather than walk around. Later on, you'll be able to maneuver with it much easier. As an adult, this shield will reflect normal type attacks back at your enemies.

This shield can be bought from the shop in Hyrule Town Market (past) or in Kakariko Village (future) for 80 Rupees. For the initial purchase, if you talk to the guard at the base of Death Mountain first, he'll knock the price down to 60. There is, however, a free Hylian Shield hidden in the Graveyard...

Mirror Shield
Adult
This sturdy shield is tougher than heck! regular projectiles just smash into pieces when they hit this shield, while magical attacks disintigrate against it (and sometimes even get reflected)! If you have this shield equipped and get swallowed by a Like Like, it won't eat it, which is cool (especially since you can't buy it back o.O)

It's found in the second half of the Spirit Temple and is required to defeat the boss of the temple, the Twinrova sisters.
 
Another thing worth noting is that the design for the original game (N64) was the shape of a crescent moon and a star, which resembles a religious symbol and was thus changed for the Master Quest and later versions of the game.
 


Deku Stick Upgrades

Deku Stick Upgrade 1
Child
The first upgrade lets you carry up to 20 Deku Sticks!

There's two upgrades for the Deku Sticks, but it doesn't matter which order you get them in:
1) As a child, enter the Lost Woods and go left twice. At the end of this area is a Business Scrub who will sell you the upgrade.
2) As a child, enter the Lost Woods and go right, left, right, left, left. In this hidden meadow, walk around in the grass where the butterflies are hanging out and you'll find a hole. In this secret area, wear a mask (usually the Skull Mask) to make the Deku down here give you the upgrade.

Deku Seeds Bullet Bags

The first upgrade lets you carry up to 40 Deku Seeds!

There's two upgrades for the Bullet Bag, but it doesn't matter which order you get them in:
1) As a child, enter the Lost Woods from Kokiri, go right once, then shoot the center of the target hanging from the tree until you get "100 points." Get three 100s in a row to get the upgrade.
2) In the Hyrule Town Market as a child, get a perfect score at the Shooting Gallery to be gifted with the upgrade.

Biggest Deku Seeds Bullet Bag
Child
The second and final upgrade lets you carry up to 50 Deku Seeds!

There's two upgrades for the Bullet Bag, but it doesn't matter which order you get them in:
1) As a child, enter the Lost Woods from Kokiri, go right once, then shoot the center of the target hanging from the tree until you get "100 points." Get three 100s in a row to get the upgrade.
2) In the Hyrule Town Market as a child, get a perfect score at the Shooting Gallery to be gifted with the upgrade.
 


Quivers

Big Quiver
Adult
The first upgrade for the Quiver lets you hold up to 40 Arrows!

There's two upgrades for the Quiver, but it doesn't matter which order you do them in:
1) Get a perfect score at the Shooting Gallery in Kakariko as an adult.
2) Get at least 1500 points at the Horseback Archery Range at the Gerudo Fortress.

Biggest Quiver
Adult
The second and final upgrade lets you hold up to 50 Arrows! It's too bad it's not bigger, you can use that much up quickly.

There's two upgrades for the Quiver, but it doesn't matter which order you do them in:
1) Get a perfect score at the Shooting Gallery in Kakariko as an adult.
2) Get at least 1500 points at the Horseback Archery Range at the Gerudo Fortress.
 


Bomb Bags

Big Bomb Bag

The first upgrade has a silver stripe instead and lets you hold up to 30 Bombs. Yay'ness!

There's two upgrades, but they can be gotten in either order:
1) Stop Hot Rodder Goron's wild rolling in Goron City under the big overhang.
2) One of the five prizes at the Bombchu Bowling Alley.

The second and final upgrades has an awesome gold stripe!!! (and lets you hold up to 40 Bombs!)

There's two upgrades, but they can be gotten in either order:

A (Pick Up)

Goron's Bracelet
Child
This bracelet allows you to pick up plants and rip them right out of the ground, roots and all! Sounds dumb, but let's see you do it - it's hard!

You get this item from Darunia in Goron City. It's required in order to enter Dodongo's Cavern.

Silver Gauntlets
Adult
Most people have to pump iron for ages before they can finally pick up really heavy things. Not Link. He cheats and gets these things to let him pick up silver boulders. This is, of course, assuming that silver boulders are heavier than regular boulders. Didn't you learn that in school? I think I missed that somehow... Also, wouldn't this make Link swing his sword harder or something? I guess not.

These gauntlets are found in the first half of the Spirit Temple.

Golden Gauntlets
Adult
How could it get any better than picking up silver boulders man, I mean, come on, silver boulders... Well, Nintendo managed to come up with an excuse. There's even bigger silver things! That's right, silver and big! There's two colossal silver obelisks (tall object with a pyramid shaped top) found in the game: one within Ganon's Castle blocking the way to the Light Barrier, and one just outside the castle guarding the final Great Fairy Fountain. Just press A on them and watch the cinematic. Ooooo...

This upgraded pair of gloves are found in Ganon's Castle in the Shadow Wing.
 


Diving

Silver Scale
Both
This cool blue thing is a scale from one of the Zoras. Apparently, if you rip one of those off of them or catch them after shaving, you can get one of these things! It lets you dive down to 3 additional units (meters?) which gives you a total of 6! That's deep man, real deep!

This item is a prize for beating the Diving Game in Zora's Domain the first time.

Golden Scale
Both
This golden variety of the last item (straight from a mystical golden Zora?) allows you to dive an additional additional 3 units (meters?) which gives you a total of 9! Just crazy I tell you... It's only really good to get a heart piece, but it is pretty nice for the Water Temple as well, assuming you know how to get it early with the Scarecrow's Song...

You can win this item by getting a fish that's 15+ pounds at the Fishing Pond in Lake Hylia.
 


Wallets

Adult's Wallet
Both
Finally! This upgraded wallet lets you carry up to 200 Rupees! Not great, but still good.

You get this prize from the first child (10+ tokens) in the House of Skulltula.

Giant's Wallet
Both
Woot! The final upgrade for the wallet gives you a limit of 500 Rupees! Unfortunately, by the time you can hold that much, you don't really need to save up your Rupees for anything... All well, it still feels good...

You get this prize from the third child (30+ tokens) in the House of Skulltula.
