Despite the excitement we all have for the next chapter in the Zelda series, Breath of the Wild, there’s always something else we want from the franchise. Take for instance getting another Zelda game in 2D. That’s why it’s nice to hear from Aonuma himself that it can still happen.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma sat down with Game Informer to discuss the upcoming Breath of the Wild. During this interview, he was asked if the Nintendo 3DS Zelda team was working on a new game for the Switch. According to Aonuma, “there is definitely a possibility” that they are working on something like that.

Aonuma continues teasing by discussing the perks of playing in a 2D world.

“There are definitely good things about the 2D world and the playstyles of the 2D world. There are a lot of fans who enjoy that style. This Nintendo Switch style, which is the evolved style of gameplay is not necessarily… I want you to think of it more as an evolved style of 2D style. For the 3DS team, I am trying to make them think in a more evolved 2D-style approach.”
