Masahiro Sakurai, in his last Miiverse post on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, showcased a new picture of returning character Zelda with a massive change in one of her key attacks.

The usual strategic, remote-controlled orb of fire that we’ve seen since

Super Smash Bros. Melee hasn’t exactly been replaced; it seems to be much stronger, exploding with a much larger range, and encompassing the target in its entirety. From what we see in the photo, it works in pretty much the same way nevertheless, although Sakurai’s words seem to add a more strategic aspect to the attack:

Pic of the day. Zelda’s Din’s Fire is now stronger in its core. The farther it’s projected, the bigger and more powerful it will be, but you need to hit foes with the core if you want to make them fall.

Personally, I’m very interested in this change and its possible implications on the gameplay; though the usual Din’s Fire was among my favorite moves in Brawl, this seems much more practical and much stronger. It’s also very encouraging to see them change attacks on such old, established characters; who else could get a reboot in the new Smash Bros.? As a quick example, I would love to see a big change in the mechanics of Link’s arrows.
