Welcome to another edition of the Zelda Fanart Spotlight, featuring artist Malfey and her most recent work named Quite Terrible Indeed. While oddly enough one of the first thing the artist admits to is the fact that she has never played Majora’s Mask herself. Still, she does a good job of giving form to the dark, twisted atmosphere the game is known for. Along with the heavy shadows inspired by the games official art, Malfey perfectly captures both the Happy Mask Salesman’s disturbing demeanor and Link’s initial shock and hopelessness after being turned into a deku.

The picture is focused on both Link and the Happy Mask Salesman, but other details help add color to the artwork as well. The whole picture is awash in shades of green, and the only visible light source is Tatl. The masks that the Happy Mask Salesman is using to decorated his backpack have a sinister expressions that only adds to the uneasiness of the work.

Malfey has done quite a few other Legend of Zelda pieces, along with other Nintendo inspired work. Check out her gallery on DeviantART, and tell us what you thought of today’s Fanart Spotlight below!
