Zelda Dungeon Marathon 2013 Q&A Part 2

Zelda Dungeon marathon picAbout a week ago we posted the first part in the Zelda Dungeon Marathon 2013 Q&A and today we are bringing you part 2! In the first portion we had 5 of the 10 attendees tell us their thoughts on the upcoming event. In this part we have interviewed the final five people who will be at the marathon. With the marathon itself only a few days away, the excitement is slowly building until it arrives.

And without further ado, please click the link below to see what the rest of the marathon crew has to say.

1) Who are you and what do you do for Dungeon Gaming?

Trevor: I’m Trevor and I am currently the Managing Editor of GenGAME. I also maintain Dungeon Gaming’s collection of Twitch channels.

Michelle: I’m Michelle (DisappearingMist on the forums) and I live in Alaska. I run the twitter account and I am also the event photographer!

Caleb: I’m one of the Walkthrough Writers for both the site and the YouTube channel, though I’m mainly focusing on the videos nowadays.

Josh: I’m Josh and I’m extremely important. I float around here and there, and in the past I’ve made various site walkthroughs and site related content. Most of my ZD life lately has been on ZD’s facebook. I also try and work on the Four Swords Adventures walkthrough whenever I find the courage to.

Mr. Mosley: Caleb Mosley (a.k.a. Mr.Mosley). I wrote the Oracle of Ages and Seasons guides for the site and was once forum administrator.

2) Are you excited to attend this year’s Zelda Dungeon Marathon?

Trevor: Of course! I can’t wait to get back together with the team in person.

Michelle: Yes! Thrilled to see those returning from last year and meeting the new attendees, and also thrilled to be a part of the fun and to raise money for a worthy cause.

Caleb: Mmhmm.

Josh: Totally.

Mr. Mosley: Of course! Last year was a blast and its always good to be in the company of fellow Zelda fans.

3) What is your favorite Zelda game?

Trevor: Twilight Princess hands down. I think this game is what Nintendo should be building the franchise from going forward. Choice of controls, good selection of weapons/items, and a large map.

Michelle: Minish Cap!

Caleb: If I had a nickel for everytime someone asked me this… But seriously? I don’t have one, they all have pros and cons, they each excel in their own departments.

Josh: Four Swords Adventures, definitely. It’s clearly the best Zelda game ever created. A close second is Wind Waker, and dead last is Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.

Mr. Mosley: That’s a tough decision, but I would have to say Oracle of Ages. Seasons and Link’s Awakening always fight for a close second place.

4) What games are you playing at this marathon?

Trevor: Besides Twilight Princess, I’ll be tackling Ocarina of Time, Spirit Tracks, and the Four Swords Titles.

Michelle: Not sure what I will be doing quite yet…

Caleb: Probably the same ones from last year, plus a few more. We’ll see how tired I am. =)

Josh: Some of the best LoZ games: Four Swords Adventures and The Wind Waker. I’ll also try to fight my way through Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.

Mr. Mosley: I’ll be playing Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, and Link’s Awakening for certain.

5) What were your favorite moments from last year’s marathon?

Trevor: Acting out the voice of the triforce, having my Wii crash not once, not twice, but three times, and of course, bringing the camera all around the couse capturing “off stage” moments.

Michelle: Interacting with the chat was a highlight, and so were the memes. The PB&J contests were pretty fun too!

Caleb: So many little moments, I just wish we had recorded more of them… Sleep deprivation makes for good laughing material no matter what the subject.

Josh: Sleeping, drinking far too much Monster, sleeping, and proclaiming myself as the best golfer in Wii Sports during the pre-marathon.

Mr. Mosley: Getting to shave Mases’ epic fro he had grown all year, watching Trevor’s Wii freeze up on him three or four times, seeing all the pictures and memes fans would make of the staff members, and especially all the little things not included in the marathon that we did once the stream ended, like going to the arcade.

6) What are you most excited about happening at this year’s marathon?

Trevor: I’m really excited about all the races that will be going on, there will be a Twilight Princess rematch, but nearly every single game will be raced. There will be a surprise in store for A Link to The Past that will probably make it the most anticipated part of the marathon.

Michelle: The special things occuring! Also getting to meet Knowlee 🙂

Caleb: The Marathon. Sorry. That just came out. Umm… For specific cutscenes, especially intros/legends, I’m going encourage the others to be “the voices of the triforce” with me again. That was hilarious last year!

Josh: Sleeping, destroying Jordan in Wind Waker and proving once again how amazing I am, and sleeping.

Mr. Mosley: I’m excited about doing much better than I did last year. Last year was a different story and multiple things got in the way of me being able to prepare and do my best. This year, my body is ready.

7) For those who are playing A Link to the Past, do you think you will be able to beat Mases?

Josh: Yes, Mases is not all he thinks he is.

8) For those who are playing Ocarina of Time, we have two questions: a) Will you buy the Hylian Shield to help Hyrule’s economy?

Trevor: No, not because I can’t afford it, but because it is entirely out of the way.

Caleb: I think the Royal Family is doing pretty good. They leave Rupees everywhere in their gardens, in the moat just outside the castle, on the drawbridge, in jars everywhere. They’re just sittin’ on the stuff! No, I’ll be getting a free shield from the Graveyard… or is that stealing?

Josh: Nah, one of my hobbies is digging around in graveyards.

b) Also will you get Epona?

Trevor: I cannot expose my strategies prior to the run. Kappa FrankerZ.

Caleb: I think Epona will be getting us this year.

Josh: Of course, no respectable man has ever not gotten Epona.

9) And a special question for Trevor: Are you hoping that your game system doesn’t get “Trevor’d”?

Trevor: I’ll be using the “save your game often” strategy to counteract the remote possiblity that I play with a damaged disk. (note: I will be playing on a Wii U with a sealed copy of the game)

And lastly, is there anything else you would like to add?

Trevor: We’re working very hard to ensure the production of this marathon sets a new standard for Zelda Dungeon and GenGAME. We are moving a lot of equipment from the New York Studio to help make this happen.

Josh: No….I….I guess not.

Mr. Mosley: The Legend of Zelda series has been among my favorites since as long as I can remember. I’m happy that as it has given me so many memorable experiences throughout the years, not just in terms of the games themselves but also the people I have come to meet, work with, and develop friendships with as I have watched the series grow.

And there’s all that the marathon crew have to say. To see the rest of the group’s thoughts please check out part 1 which can be found here.

The marathon is set to start on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 which is only a few days from now. We hope that you guys are just as excited for this as we are! We hope to see you all in the audience watching all the events take place during that time! See you there!
