Update: Nintendo of Europe has just officially announced that the YouTube app is now available on Nintendo Switch. No confirmation yet if the other regions have it available as well.

Original Story:

Over the weekend, Nintendo appears to have leaked some new information about a soon-to-be released app for the Switch. A tweet by French website NintendHome claimed to have come across information from Nintendo of America’s website detailing a precise release date for a YouTube app. According to the tweet, YouTube will arrive on the Switch on November 8th.

Though seeming to be a bit of a contradiction to their earlier stance on making the Switch mostly a game platform as opposed to a full entertainment center like the Wii U before it, it seems that Switch owners may soon be able to browse their favorite content creators while simultaneously playing their favorite games. Granted, if you already have a smartphone, you’re likely to already have a YouTube app, so this might not mean much for you. That being said, it could also mean Nintendo is backing off a bit from their previous statements and could branch into some more similar types of applications.

Whatever the future holds for the Switch’s non-game library, if this information is correct, we’ll be seeing the YouTube app released on Thursday, November 8th.
