Would You Rather: Edition III

Welcome back to Would You Rather! Last week it looked like most of you chose to brave the Faron Woods, but for some the lure of cash and the Lens of Truth was just too much to resist! So far we’ve explored your pet preferences and your bravery; this week I want you to delve into your whimsy. Majora’s Mask is home to many unique and fantastic items, most famous of which are the transformation masks. However, these masks come with a price: Link must fulfill the dying wish of whosoever grants him such a mask. The other numerous masks in the game are rewards for helping citizens of Termina to reach a goal or realization. Would you rather be given a transformation mask, knowing you must subscribe to whatever task you are given, or receive a specialty, though rather innocuous, mask in return for helping workaday folks reach some small goal?

Standard Masks v. Transformation Masks

Below you will find a list of positive and negative aspects to each choice with the added bonus of some reminders as to which fun masks are available.

Standard:

1. Only requires you to grant a small wish
2. Includes the Bunny Hood, Mask of Truth, Gibdo Mask and Kamaro’s Mask
3. Though the masks do not transform you, they do give you some kind of ability, such as being able to get into the bar, run really fast, make undead creatures dance ballet and more
4. There are many more of this kind of mask than there are of the transformation masks, giving you more abilities in general than the other option would

Transformation:

1. Includes the Deku, Zora, Goron and Fierce Deity Masks
2. Are created out of sorrow and a need for action
3. The unfinished business of the soul that creates the mask is passed on to you
4. You can transform back and forth at will

If you have considered the above, take a moment and think about how you would use the masks you chose in your own life. The regular masks would allow you to run fast everywhere, saving you the need for a car on short trips, to open mail boxes wherever you go, to dance on the stage and be famous; there are quite a few possibilities. The Goron Mask would give a snowboarder or skier unprecedented access to mountainous terrain with no need for gear and the Zora Mask would allow you to swim into the ocean and be secure in your safety with your boomerangs and (possibly) your magic shield.
