WW Title ScreenAn Oculus Rift emulation of The Wind Waker was shown by YouTube user Chadtronic earlier this month. The first-person perspective demonstrated in the video is one any fan of The Wind Waker won’t want to miss.

Of course a first-person perspective isn’t entirely new to The Wind Waker, but it’s normally very limited. Here we see Link can perform most basic actions, like slashing his sword or lifting a pot, while remaining in first-person. Some select items and mechanics appear perfectly suited for first-person, while others make it painfully apparent that The Wind Waker was never meant to be played this way.

If given the chance, I’d love to explore the Great Sea all over again using this perspective. It looks to be a great way for veteran players to replicate the especially adventurous exploration of playing The Wind Waker for the first time. How about you? Is the game worth playing from this perspective, or is it just a short-lived novelty?
