We are one week closer to the release of Skyward Sword and the folks over at VG Chartz have updated their pre-order listing. In the week ending September 24th, Skyward Sword picked up 30,470 additional pre-orders, down from 52,475 the previous week, but now giving it a 347,238 lifetime total. It wasn’t exactly a good week of pre-orders as many of the other games in the Top 20 outpaced Skyward Sword. That being said, since the previous weeks top title Gears of War has now released, Skyward Sword has jumped up one spot and is now #7 on the listing. Skyward Sword remains the only Nintendo title on the charts.

With just over 7 weeks to go until release, we’re almost reaching crunch time for pre-order numbers. With Skyward Sword being featured on Game Informer magazine, Nintendo Power, Official Nintendo Magazine, and NGamer all in the last few weeks, we should be seeing a steady incline in pre-order numbers as we get closer to release. I imagine that once we get towards the end of October and early November we’ll see a larger ad campaign on Nintendo’s part to push sales of the game. We’ll see what Nintendo has up their sleeves but with the recent slew of information, I think Nintendo will be giving Skyward Sword a huge push in the coming months. Sometime similar to what they gave New Super Mario Bros in 2009 and Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010.
