Two kids debate Zelda

We’ve seen many serious–even scholarly–debates or thesis about the greatness of the Legend of Zelda series. This video is not one of them. Rather, it is an adorable argument between two kids about the merits of the Legend of Zelda. Kid YouTuber HaleytheHedgehog11 has a debate with SammyClassicSonicFan (her brother?) who believes Zelda to be the best adventure game franchise in the gaming world. Haley, on the other, feels quite differently. After the heated debate, you’re asked to vote by a click of the mouse for the position you agree with. Check the video out after the jump!

This is a topic I think that many Zelda fans have argued over whether it be with non-Zelda fans or other Nintendo fans and is always a debate that can take interesting turns. This debate was probably intended for people to have taken seriously however the debate itself could have been handled and explained better. The video does bring up an interesting points on the Zelda franchise verse other game franchises.

This debate is something I have argued many times before and I have to agree with Sammy when he says that The Legend of Zelda is the best adventure game franchise and that there is a lot more to Zelda than rescuing the princess, it’s most certainly nothing like the Mario games. Haley also brings up the point of comparing Zelda to Mario, Sonic, Kirby and Pokemon and this is where I start to believe that Haley has not played enough Zelda to have a fair case in the argument, otherwise she would know that Zelda is a very different and unique game which is what makes it so awesome. It provides some very different styles of gameplay, its art styles do not follow popular demand and The Legend of Zelda is currently in the game hall of fame after its 25th Anniversary and is now one of the most fabled franchises in gaming history after starting off as one of the most ambitious games ever created.

After playing as many Zelda games as I have and especially after playing Ocarina of Time I can say that any game I play aside from Ocarina of Time or any Zelda game in general is a little disappointing because I find that that there is nothing better then playing Zelda and to add one more point; Link is not an elf, he is Hylian.
