The last time we got a look at Twilight Princess concept art, we saw the three bearers of the Triforce, as well as Gorons, Zoras, and plenty of items. New images of Hyrule Historia are surfacing on the web, and we can now get a look at even more concept art from Twilight Princess, including early designs of Link and even depictions of his child self. We also get a look at concept art for Impaz, who was originally meant to be a man.

As you can see form the description, Wolf Link was designed using cartoon techniques in order to give the game a greater sense of fairy tale. You can also tell from the various sketches that the designers had a tough time getting Link’s final design just right, but the trial and error truly paid off.

In this image, we can see that the game’s designers went through several versions of Impaz as an old man before deciding on the one shown in the upper-right corner. The kooky geezer was apparently scrapped for the shorter, calmer-looking female version of the character used in the final game. Still, the idea of Impa as an old man is very intriguing—do you think they may revisit that concept one day?

Fyer and Falbi also underwent drastic changes. As you can see, the original version of Fyer is a burly man, much more confident than the mopey, blue-lipped man in pink found in the final game. Falbi, on the other hand, was given a complete swap from woman to man. If it weren’t spelled out for us, it would be hard to tell which design became which final character.

What do you think of these concepts? Would you have liked to see a child version of Link in the final product? Do you hope they revisit the idea of “Old Man Impa?” Sound off in the comments!
