Twilight Princess: 48 Hours Average Play Time Per Person

There has been so much talk about how many hours of gameplay there is in Skyward Sword. Shigeru Miyamoto had initially stated that the game has between 50-100 hours of gameplay and many Zelda fans took that as thinking Skyward Sword would be the biggest Zelda game to date. Yet, 5 years earlier the same 100 Hours was tossed out there for the length of Twilight Princess. So how long are these games? Perhaps the more important question is… how many hours are people playing the game? For every Zelda fan that plays through a new console game in its entirety multiple times, there are dozens of fans who never play further than the first few hours. So where does it usually average out? 48 Hours… at least in the case of Twilight Princess.

The folks over at Coffee With Games have posted some playtime statistics of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. These statistics come via the Nintendo Channel, so it obviously doesn’t include all hours of play, but rather, just a large sample. Thus the total numbers aren’t too important but the averages do tell a good story. For Twilight Princess, the average Nintendo Wii Console that has run Twilight Princess has played it for 48 hours and 22 minutes. Jump inside to see the chart and more data for Twilight Princess.

The other piece of data that is worth looking at is the average playtime per session and that comes out to 2 Hours and 21 Minutes. Now, this pretty much counts whenever the game is on in the console and not necessary playtime, but still, that number seems crazy high. Granted I’m sure there are lot of people that just play a couple hours… leave the game on… and then come back and continue. For me personally, I almost never play a game in a longer sitting than 60 minutes unless it is brand new, or if I’m doing something special that requires me to keep playing longer.
