With Breath of the Wild‘s huge open world on the horizon, a lot of fans are excited for this big change from Skyward Sword‘s extremely linear style of gameplay. While open worlds are definitely a positive feature for a lot of AAA titles to have in today’s gaming industry, linear gameplay is often criticized, as it can become tiresome after experiencing an open world game. However, one man has set out to explain why he thinks linear Zelda games aren’t that bad.

RoberOnocle first explains the transition between The Legend of Zelda for NES, and it’s sequel, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. While the first game featured an expansive and free open world, Zelda II moved away from that entirely with a linear system. Then he starts talking about the games released after those, and brings up his core arguments. To see what that is, you’ll need to watch the video. Don’t forget to leave a comment below on whether you agree or not after watching it.
