This 8-bit Version of Dordung Cavern is Better than Every Zelda CD-i Game

The Wand of Gamelon may be infamously bad, but not everything about it is a let-down. Some musical tracks from the game are pretty catchy, and 8-bit remixer Loeder has a particular fondness for the Dordung Cavern theme. He explains, “this piece has one of the most amazing basslines I’ve ever heard, I can’t get it out of my head. Naturally, I had to make a cover of it!” His 8-bit remix might even be better than the original tune.
I really do think this version of the song brings out its best qualities, though I’ve got a soft-spot for 8-bit style music. I wonder if playing the game with a fully 8-bit soundtrack would make the experience more enjoyable.
Loeder makes his 8-bit songs using FL Studio’s NES VST plugin and puts together his videos with MidiTrail. He’s done remixes of tons of Nintendo songs from franchises like Mario, Metroid, Kirby, Splatoon, and quite a few from the Zelda series — check them out on his channel.
What do you guys think of Loeder’s Dordung Cavern remix? Are there any Zelda songs he hasn’t remixed yet that you’d like him to work on? Share your thoughts in the comments!
