Theory: Why Bellum is One of the Zelda Series’ Scariest Villains

It’s no surprise that Phantom Hourglass doesn’t get a whole lot of love from the Zelda theorist community. Not only is it one of the least popular Zelda titles, but the story and world seems very disconnected from the rest of the series. While this isn’t the first game to take place outside of Hyrule, something about this game in particular feels distant. However, the world of the Ocean King may not be as different from Hyrule as we originally thought.
In this theory, NintendoBlackCrisis explores the terrifying nature of Bellum, the primary antagonist in Phantom Hourglass. He looks into the life force that motivates the Demon King and why it’s so tempting to him. In doing this, the theorist links this mysterious “life force” to many other Zelda titles, including Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword.
