The Truth About Tingle

TingleYesterday over at Zelda Informer an article titled The Truth About Tingle was posted. The article is both funny and informative and discusses America’s least favorite character: Tingle. The author makes quite a few interesting observations and the article is a great read. He covers the origins of Tingle, describes his characteristics, and eventually makes a hilarious, yet frighteningly true statement about who Tingle was inspired by:

So… err. That’s you, and that’s me-apparently. The stereotypical gamer. Tingle. Unattractive overweight males (sorry girls) that will/do live with their parents at age 35. They/you/I/we also have no friends and spend our time playing games while our parents think we should grow up. We are unemployed, but help our fathers with their work on occasion. Still not convinced that you’re Tingle yet? What about that dress up party that you went to as Link? Yeah, exactly. What about all of those doodles of Master Swords and Triforces on your school books? Yeah, you Tingle.

It’s so true it’s scary. Many of you are still quite young, but a few of us are in college and will be looking for jobs soon. How many of us will end up drawing pictures of Zelda and playing games while our classmates are out in the working force? Who will end up dressed like Link sitting in their basement playing Zelda?

In all seriousness the article makes some comical observations about the origins of Tingle. Do you think that you helped contribute to the character? Do we all still hate Tingle? Is there really a soft spot in our hearts for him? Let us know in the comments.
