The Great Wave off Kanagawa is a renowned art piece that has been reimagined in many ways. I had a tapestry of it on my wall in college, and every morning when I woke up, I was greeted with an awe-inspiring piece of art. How else can you improve on something so amazing as The Great Wave off Kanagawa? Well, by adding our favorite nautical hero! This 3D art piece on Etsy has been drawing many eyes, including one of my favorite crafters on YouTube, North of the Border, who aims to replicate it.

North of the Border first starts by cutting a wave into styrofoam to create a mold. From there, he uses resin and clay to create his working model of the wave. By using clay and Mod Podge, he adorns the waves and makes them look closer to the original Great Wave. He also uses clay to craft a tiny King of Red Lions and an even tinier Toon Link.

The result is absolutely amazing. I didn’t expect anything else other than mastery, to be completely honest. North of the Border has an incredible talent for crafting, and I’m always amazed by his videos. His artistry makes me stop what I’m doing and watch completely in awe. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself!

North of the Border’s channel is filled with numerous crafting videos and hilarious commentary. He also links all of his tools and supplies in his video descriptions in case he inspires you to pick up a new hobby. Here are some links to North of the Border’s Patreon and Instagram so you can support them off of YouTube!
