Zelda in LEGO Form Is Not To Be

legozeldaFor years, fans of The Legend of Zelda have been waiting to hear if the LEGO company would recreate their favorite hero in little plastic brick form. Wes Talbott’s submission to the LEGO Ideas program made the Zelda community proud. The idea gained the support of the 10,000 supporters that it would need to be considered. Since it did get the votes, it was put into the final projects for 2014. Well, the results of the LEGO Ideas Winter 2014 review are in. Sadly, Link will not be appearing in brick form.

Hit the jump to see why.

To start, here is what the LEGO Zelda set would have looked like, just as a reminder.

Although the Zelda set did get the supporters and met all the qualifications, it did not have much of a chance to begin with. The chance of creating a crossover between LEGO and The Legend of Zelda, even if it would have been perfect, could not happen if LEGO could not get the support of Nintendo. That is exactly what happened. Nintendo gave the license to K’Nex instead, leaving us LEGO fans crushed and brokenhearted.

If thats not bad enough, the LEGO set that was decided on was not even from this years finalists. The winner was the Female Minifigure Set from the Fall 2013 Review.
