The Legend of Zelda artwork from an anime artist

Back when The Legend of Zelda was more an idea than a full game, popular anime artist Haruhiko Mikimoto did some drawings of Zelda and Link to feature in the anime magazine Newtype. Some scans of a 1984 or 1985 edition of Newtype reveal what he imagined for these two characters before The Legend of Zelda was released.

Unfortunately, though these are from pages 140 and 143 of the edition, it doesn’t seem like the scans of the pages in-between are available. It’s still cool to see what was being written about the game even though it’s in Japanese.
The artwork for Link and Zelda are superb. Even though I’m not an avid follower of anime or manga, I love seeing different interpretations of Link, both in Zelda games and amongst the community. Before Link and Zelda really meant anything to anyone, this is what he was imagined to be.
