Termina Field’s theme from Majora’s Mask can be seen as a triumphant return for the Zelda series main theme. After composer Koji Kondo opted to use a fresh theme for Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time, many fans were excited to hear Zelda‘s most iconic tune once again in that game’s follow-up. Retaining the classic song’s primary melody while infusing it with an air of mystery and danger, Termina Field’s theme has certainly become a favorite of mine.

Musician Bulby over on YouTube recently released an awesome 8-bit cover of Termina Field’s theme. Utilizing deliciously retro sounds and instrumentation, this remix demonstrates what Majora’s Mask would sound like — and look like, considering the small 8-bit animation accompanying the video — if made for the a Game Boy. The cover actually reminds me a bit of Link’s Awakening‘s Overworld theme, which is itself a rearrangement of the series’ main theme.

Be sure to check out Bulby’s YouTube channel right here for even more music, including a 16-bit remix of The Wind Waker‘s Great Sea theme.
