I hate to sound like a broken record here at Zelda Dungeon, but The Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game of all-time. One aspect of The Wind Waker that is so unique is its soundtrack, which uses instruments and sounds that set the game apart from others in the series. The same can be said about this 8-bit remix of the game’s Main Theme, as it uses a rather unique “instrument” of sorts to bring this cover to life.

That aforementioned instrument used for Bulby’s remix is what’s called a VRC6 (virtual rom controller), which is an advanced MMC sound chip manufactured by Konami. This sound chip is best known for having been used in the Japanese version of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.

This isn’t the first remix Bulby’s used the VRC6 for, as they have also used it for covers of songs from Paper Mario, F-Zero, Super Mario, Final Fantasy, and even more Zelda tunes from Ocarina of Time. The remixer has also covered tunes from game series like PokémonMario KartRunescapeSuper Smash Bros., Luigi’s Mansion, and much more. Whatever you’re into, I’m pretty sure that Bulby has it covered.

What do you think of this remix? Will you be checking out any more work from Bulby? Let us know in the comments below!
