Brawl in the Family, a Nintendo web comic by Matthew Taranto, recently began a new story arc featuring Link and Ganondorf. It’s a mash-up between the Mario and Zelda series in which Bowser and Ganondorf, each lamenting another defeat at the hands of their respective series’ heroes, agree to swap rivals. Any Zelda fan should appreciate the clever references throughout. Take the jump and see the comic for yourself!

With A Link Between Worlds still buzzing in everyone’s minds, this week’s comic comes from Brawl in the Family and features Ravio’s Shop! In the game we only see Link buying or renting items from Ravio, but who’s to say that other creatures don’t also use Ravio’s service? This time a moblin plays the role of the customer, and you might be able to guess how he reacts to the steep prices. Hit the jump to read the comic!

What exactly happens behind the scenes of video games? Surely there must be some goings-on outside of our gameplay that keeps everything nice and tidy. People mow the lawns. Enemies and friends have people to take care of them. Who knows, maybe Ganon even provides sufficient health care plans for all of his minions. This week, one of our favorites, Brawl in the Family, examines what kinds of jobs are available to keep Bowser able to capture Princess Peach, Mother…

By now you can probably already guess the origin of this comic- the trademark light blue fill colors and the dark blue outlines of Brawl in the Family that has become perhaps the most memorable Nintendo webcomic. This week we have some Majora’s Mask humor, but it also comes with a bit of reconsideration about the whole ending-of-the-world thing. At least this moon doesn’t quite have that terrifying stare. He even looks a bit scared, doesn’t he? Hit the jump to read the…

Brawl in the Family, one of the classics in Nintendo, and therefore Zelda webcomics. Though the Zelda series hasn’t been that topical recently, with The Wind Waker HD still awaiting release, and A Link Between Worlds still quite a while away, there’s always a plethora of Zelda content to grab from Brawl in the Family. This time yet another Ocarina of Time related comic, but not at all in an Ocarina of Time related setting. You might be able to guess…

Something that’s a little puzzling is why the Zoras from the early Zelda games such as The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past are so much different from the Zoras in later titles like Ocarina of Time. If Ocarina of Time comes before A Link to the Past, why do the Zoras turn from a race that’s friendly to Link to hostile, overworld monsters? Well, Brawl in the Family may have our answer. Hit the jump to read the comic!

Probably my favorite announcement at this hectic E3 was name of the new Zelda game, A Link Between Worlds, particularly because A Link to the Past, its main inspiration, is one of my favorite Zelda games. The new mechanics Nintendo is employing, such as the wall walking, will hopefully be as fun to utilize as they seem in the trailer. This wall walking also seems to make good comic material, so let’s see what Brawl in the Family has for…

There are a lot of magical items in the Zelda series, but perhaps the ones taken most for granted are the bracelet and gauntlets that give you extra strength in Ocarina of Time. For some reason, “Goron’s Bracelet” and “Silver Gauntlets” didn’t stick in my head quite like “Power Glove” from A Link to the Past. But if the gauntlets gave you a boost on more than just the really heavy stuff, then maybe we’d notice the difference. Hit the jump to…

In every game the constant “beep beep” reminder when your health is low is really annoying. In many situations, I’ve cared more about restoring my health to get rid of that ongoing irritation rather than worrying about dying. But combine that with Navi’s incessant “HEY!” and “LISTEN!” reminders, and you’ve got an exasperating situation. So what’s the solution? Certainly there is one elegant and efficient way to solve this crisis of noise and health. Hit the jump to read!

For this week’s Comic Corner we have a rather old comic from the Brawl in the Family series. In fact, this happens to be the very first Brawl in the Family that features Link! It should be obvious from the title, “Recorder” that this comic was inspired by the original The Legend of Zelda, but unless you’ve been reading Brawl in the Family for a long time, you may not know what comes in the later panels. All we know is the…
