Zelda is probably best known for its many independent titles that have little relation to one another. There have been plenty of sequels amid a sea of lone wolves, among them being the beloved Majora’s Mask and Link’s Awakening. Usually continuations of one story will feel less dynamic than their predecessor because they often share the same art style and feature similar items and concepts. For a series that is known for releasing one stellar sequel-less game after another, are…

Today’s Fanart Spotlight features an ongoing colaboration project by the people over at Game-Art-HQ called Link’s Blacklist, a tribute to the baddies of The Legend of Zelda series. Dozens of artists are participating, and while it will still be a few months before all the entries are completed, some amazing pieces of work have already emerged from this project. One of entries has already been featured here on Zelda Dungeon, and several artists who have been featured on this site…

The Magic Meter was one of the staples of the Zelda franchise, the icing on a beautifully, appetizing multi-layered cake. It seems that with recent console installments, Nintendo has been trying to do away with this classic mechanic and replace it with other depleting meters like the Stamina Meter. The trend started with Twilight Princess and there is no end in sight. Now the recent Zelda games have been spectacular and still maintain a strong, undeniable fantasy setting that does…

Why can Zelda be so addicting sometimes? Zelda addiction happens to many individuals that lay their pretty fingers on a Zelda title. The “holy lobsters this game is so awesome now I can’t put it down” syndrome that quite a few Zelda fans have experienced with the franchise is common but still a strange beast. How can a game franchise that usually doesn’t have online multiplayer, has few in-game rewards after conquering the main storylines for the first time and…

Games Radar has recently posted an article on the top 100 best video game quotes of all time. This should be no big surprise, as fans are constantly referencing these famous quotes and using them jokingly with each other. However, Zelda topped the list not one, two, but three times! Make the jump to find out which iconic lines from the franchise made it into Game Radar’s list.

Alright guys, here’s the new mailbag. As has been the usual lately, it’s got a nice variety of questions. An unusual focus on Adventure of Link, actually, with one question directly asking about the game and another with an answer that ties into it. Two Skyward Sword ones as well. There’s also a lot of questions here that deal with factual answers, and not as many (there’s still plenty) of questions that deal with opinions. 10 questions in all. You…

YouTube user GermWelfareNewMedia has uploaded a video comparing the Adventure of Link theme to the song “Sundown” by Gordon Lightfoot. While it does sound similar, I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say it’s exactly the same. However, now when I start up Zelda II I can’t help thinking of “Sundown” as soon as I hear the theme and vice versa! Anyways to check out the video yourself go ahead and make the jump!

Over a dozen canon Zelda titles have been introduced to the gaming populace over the past twenty-five years, each unique in their own ways. This week and next week, I will be listing which installments I believe are outstanding and which ones I regard to be less stellar. The judgement of each will be based off of what quality the game is overall, its reception, impact on the gaming world and sales figures. Next week I will be doing the…

Adventure of Link has often sat in the shadow of its predecessor and very few elements of the game have been brought back in future games, including the music. Many people find it understandable that some elements of Adventure of Link didn’t find their way into future Zelda games, especially the side-scrolling and RPG elements. Don’t misunderstand; Adventure of Link is definitely a good, albeit different, Zelda game. However, what about the musical elements of the game? Why have they…

The Adventure of Link is not only one of my favorite Zelda titles, it is one of my favorite video games ever. Just the second game in the Zelda franchise, it is by far the most polarizing game in the series. Older fans who grew up with the NES likely have high regards for the title as it was one of the best games for the NES and was covered extensively in the golden days of Nintendo Power magazine. When…
