Just in case you like some light reading to go along with your button mashing, Prima is providing games with just the thing when Super Smash Bros. for Wii U comes around later this year. Already confirmed to be releasing a collector’s edition guide for Hyrule Warriors upon its release, we have just received news that the big name fighting game will be receiving a very similar treatment with two different guides. Following the status quo of Prima guides, one is a paperback guide while the other is a dandy hardcover tome, likely targeting for the collector’s and strategy guide fanatics out there, such as myself. While we have yet to obtain pictures of the lovely books, we are happy to hear that this is coming along well, and we’ve even learned a bit about its contents.

Now, while we already know what the guide for the 3DS version looks like, and even about some of its internal details courtesy of its listing on Amazon, the guide for the Wii U iteration is certainly going to be the more exciting of the two. Thanks to the Amazon listing (devoid of picture, although it’s probably safe to assume it’ll look very similar to its box art), we know the following details about the guide:

  • The paperback version will be 288 pages long
  • The hardcover version will be 304 pages long
  • The hardcover version is possibly a collector’s edition

The lack of details is truly unfortunate, but hopefully this is just the tip of iceberg to be soon revealed. When it comes to these kinds of guides, I hardly use them as intended, but I love reading through them more pleasure. Additionally, a little bonus or two (e.g. concept art, a bookmark) certainly make it worth my while to purchase the collector’s edition. Any of you planning to get one of these guides for yourself? Are some of you waiting until we know more? What bonuses would you like to be included in the collector’s edition (provided it is declared one)?
