The guys that brought us the stop-motion Tetris animation on Minecraft are back and this time they have created an animation using the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. This creation covers the opening scenes and the first three minutes of gameplay. It took them over a span of five weeks and over 1000 still images to create the final video. The creators of this animation have indicated that many, including Minecraft’s creator, Notch, have doubts about the veracity of the video. No official quote was given about this. Check out the video and hear my thoughts after the jump.

I have made many stop-motion videos in my life. However, most of mine lasted only about 30 seconds and were used as school projects. That doesn’t change the fact that it took forever to make. I have no doubt that this video is real. I think it is amazing how they used this method to recreate the beginning of a classic Zelda game. It would have been a waste of their time to fake this and probably would have taken just as long.

What do you guys think? Did you enjoy this animation? Do you believe it is real or do you have your doubts? Let us know in the comments!
