Hey there guys, got your mailbag, and this week we’re talking a lot about Skyward Sword! In particular, we got multiple questions about a potential HD remake/re-release of the game, and for the rest… a bunch of my answers revolved around the game for some reason? Weird! We talk about other things though, including the fate of a some Links and the repercussions caused by some others! We even talk about Link and Zelda in general! Hope you enjoy!

Questions and timestamps:

(00:23) – I feel like Zelda fans are very critical about each game in the franchise. For example, I see a lot of criticism involving the weapon durability system in Breath of the Wild, and I personally feel like the odd one out with this opinion, because I love the durability system and what it brings to the combat and gameplay. Is there anything about the series you feel is too harshly criticized?
(01:25) – Would you like to see Skyward Sword get an HD remake? If so would you like to see motion controls, basic controller settings, or both?
(02:32) – Despite having some great qualities, Skyward Sword is my least-favorite 3D Zelda game due to issues like the motion controls not always working as expected and the repeated boss fight. If it would ever get the treatment that The Wind Waker got with its HD release, what would you expect/want changed?
(04:45) – Do you think the Downfall Timeline is a result of Link jumping back and forth during Ocarina of Time? As such, could he have created an alternate timeline where he fails because of changing something in the past that has a butterfly effect?
(06:00) – What do you think happened to the Hero of Winds in-between Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks? Some people think he died in the war against Malladus, but do you think that happened or did he simply die of old age?
(07:21) – So in 2016, Miyamoto revealed that there were plans for a Sheik spinoff but nothing ever came of it. Maybe someday we’ll get it, but until then what do you think a Sheik game would be like? Would it be set before the adult portion of Ocarina of Time or after as a follow up? What kind of gameplay would you like? In general, how would you feel about a “Rogue One” kind of game for the series?
(09:26) – How you would you feel about a steampunk Zelda? Maybe primitive guns instead of a bow, etc.
(10:30) – In your opinion, what are your favorite Zelda games in each of the following categories: Story, dungeons, combat, and music?
(12:00) – Which game has your favorite Link and Zelda character designs?

Be sure to submit your name/username and questions to the mailbag email at mailbag@zeldadungeon.net for next week’s mailbag! You can also message me on my Twitter or Facebook, or use the Mailbag Thread on the forums!

Can you guess the quote on the paper, the sound at the beginning, or any of the music? Include them all with your question and you might guarantee it gets answered! How about your thoughts about the questions? What are your favorite Zelda games in the various categories? Which game has your favorite Link and Zelda? And what do you think of the idea of a Skyward Sword HD? Tell me your thoughts on these and any other questions you want in the comments!
