After the phenomenal success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto has dropped some hints that there could be more Nintendo-based movies in the future.

In a published interview from Japanese outlet The Nikkei (translated by SatsumaFS on behalf of Nintendo Everything), Miyamoto was asked about what could be next for Nintendo movies. Expressing optimism regarding future films, he said, “Nintendo is like a talent agency. We have plenty of other entertainers.” He then added, “There are many possible ways we could go, such as using characters that would be fit for movies, or very well-known characters.”

There’s still a lot of characters and stories in the world of Mario that could be turned into movies. Miyamoto could also be dropping some hints about the use of other Nintendo properties, such as The Legend of Zelda, in Nintendo’s continued partnership with Illumination.

What do you think? What franchise should Nintendo make a movie about next? Do you think we’ll ever get a Legend of Zelda movie? Let us know in the comments!
