While this is a rumor, it does come from a fairly reliable retail source at GameStop who spoke with the folks over at MyNintendoNews. According to the source, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be releasing on November 21st along with a bundle that includes one Amiibo Figure. We aren’t sure if every copy of Smash will have the figure or of it’s a separate special edition bundle ordeal. It could also very well be a pre-order bonus that might be exclusive to GameStop. There is also no clarification on if we will be able to choose which figure we get with the game.

While these are rumors (GameStop is not Nintendo), both of them make a lot of sense. Surely Nintendo is pushing hard for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to release before Black Friday in the United States as that is the biggest shopping day of the year in North America. Releasing it a week prior allows Nintendo to see a major boost in sales for two consecutive weekends heading into December, as all the Smash pre-orders will get taken care of the first weekend along with a few more consoles being sold, then Black Friday is sure to move a ton more Wii U units (especially give this is the third holiday season, so expect some store to store discount bundles) along with even more copies of Smash for folks to find underneath the tree this year.

As for Amiibo, given that Smash is the only current game (with Mario Kart eventually getting in on it) that uses them, it would make sense to package one in or offer one for free on launch day. One reason Skylanders is so popular is that the figurines are required for the game, and kids obviously love action figures. While Nintendo might be a bigger overall name, there aren’t any games that require them, so letting folks see first hand how neat they are by giving one away would make a lot of sense. Could really lead to folks trying to collect the whole gang.

Naturally, treat this for what it is, though both seem highly likely regardless of where this information came from.
