Rumor Mill: Zelda Titles Apart of the Ambassador Program

The folks over at Nintendo 3DS Blog have received an unsourced news tip from one of their viewers about rumored titles for the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program. While the rumor does not seem to have much validity at all, it is worth speculating as to what exactly will be included with the Ambassador Program. According to the rumor, three Zelda games would be included as free downloadable games.

1. The Legend of Zelda (NES)
2. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
3. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA)

In my opinion, I think the ambassador program will include a mixture of top-quality titles, as well as lesser known or less popular titles. From the Zelda series, I think the original Legend of Zelda will be there and maybe even some of the NES games listed. However, I don’t think they’ll give away all those NES titles, since many of those are prime games that consumers would purchase for a few bucks.

On the Game Boy Advance side of things… games such as The Minish Cap could sell very well. Nintendo charged $5.99 for the GameBoy Color experience, Link’s Awakening. This leads me to think that The Minish Cap, whenever it does become available, will sell for at least $5.99 and maybe as much as $9.99. In either case, I think many Zelda fans will flock towards the game as in reality, it is a Zelda title that hasn’t been experienced by much of the Zelda audience. The Minish Cap only sold 1million copies worldwide, much for the reason that it was an incredibly late GameBoy Advance title. In fact, the Nintendo DS had already released here in the United States when the Minish Cap debuted on the Nintendo GBA.

Bottomline, I think we’ll get some Zelda for the Ambassador Program… but three games is a stretch. The Minish Cap in particular. What do you think?
