zelda-wind-waker Originally The Wind Waker had been known to be more time consuming in general gameplay, whether it was sailing from island to island or even treasure hunting. According to a recent interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, with the HD aside, various game mechanics have been improved including a faster sailing pace as well as shorter chain for treasure hunting. This is defiantly good news for any speed-runners out there as well as anyone who disliked the previous slower game mechanics.

Thanks to an interview with Game Informer, Miyamoto was able to briefly confirm that the Wind Waker HD does indeed have various improvements to make the game-play smoother and less time consuming even it is minimal.

Game Informer: Could you talk about some of the other changes and gameplay additions or things that you’ve done for Wind Waker just beyond the graphics?

Miyamoto: Well we’ve actually made a number of different improvements. I think the previous game, the length and the player pacing of it was something we thought we could improve on. For example, this time we’ve added an additional sail, that allows the boat to travel faster this time than it did in the original GameCube game. And when you’re dropping your crane down in the ocean to hunt for sunken treasure, the length of the chain on the crane is shorter so you spend less time on that. So it basically helps to speed up the game-play a little bit. So the pacing has really been improved upon.

Personally I never minded the GameCube version’s pace nor though it dragged on in any way, even thought that may arguably be true. Nevertheless, even the slightest adjustments are to enhance smoother sailing, literally. Overall, I’m looking forward to it as it was more than likely to be improved if when remade. How would the slightest adjustments in the Wind Waker HD effect your game-play?
