Ocarina of Time vs. Skyward Sword: IGN

As an installment of their ‘VS.’ series, IGN is asking, “Can any game surpass Ocarina of Time?” As the video states, it was the first game to receive a perfect 10 rating from IGN. Since then Skyward sword has also gotten a ten, and is the game most likely to beat out the classic. The match up will be decided based on views from this video so follow the annotations to vote for which game you think is better. The match up will be based the following criteria: Controls, Bosses, Items and Story. In nearly each of these categories I think Skyward Sword is better, but perhaps not as original. While Ocarina of time is an example of revolutionary game design, it’s still 13 years short of truly competing with Skyward Sword.

I also feel this competition is faulty in set up. It’s lacking a category for level design. The dungeons in Ocarina of Time became stale, even during the first playthrough, but Skyward Sword’s dungeons are the best in the series in my opinion and the clear strength for the game. That being said, I think newcomers to the series are going to come out and bring Skyward Sword to victory, but only time will tell.
