“Ocarina of Adventure Time” fan art

OoTOver the years there have been some great pictures by fans of the Zelda series and here’s another one but it has a bit of a different take on the universe. Most of the ones I’ve seen have been very well drawn and capture the scene it’s trying to depict very well. Whether it’s a dark, gritty epic clash between Link and Ganondorf or a romantic scene beween Link and Zelda, the scene is very well set. A recent picture drawn by Mike Vasquez and colored by Joe Hogan is a montage of various characters from the series but the style of the picture makes even Re-Deads look less horrifying and almost cute….almost!

Take the jump to see for yourself!

I may not be an art critic but I really like this montage. Every character has a quirkiness about them which may be out of character for Ganondorf or the Happy Mask salesman but they retain the essence of who they are, especially the Happy Mask salesman who still looks like he’s about to go on a murderous rampage because Link didn’t bring back Majora’s Mask!

What’s also great about this picture is that every time I look at it, I notice something I hadn’t before. A lot of Majora’s Mask fans tell of how creepy the moon is but I was never that bothered by it. It took a while for me to notice the moon in the top left corner and, if it looked like that in the game, it would have been too funny to find creepy. I’ve often wondered what Navi looks like and if she turned out to be a Gameboy like she is in this picture, it would be a shock I would never have seen coming.

Seeing as the picture is called ‘Ocarina of Adventure time’ there are quite a lot of characters from Majora’s Mask and there are a huge amount of characters that aren’t present, not just fromĀ Ocarina of Time. I, for one, would love to see more picture by these artists depicting some of the other characters from Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask as well as other games from the series.

What do you think of the picture? Do you prefer the more serious artistic takes on the series or would you like to see more this? Tell us in the comments below.
