Nintendo Files Patent for Hinged Joy-Con Controller

With Nintendo officially unveiling some kind of “New Experience” in the coming days, they’re apparently already hard at work at their next set of hardware ideas. In the world of gaming accessories, Nintendo always seems to be the big dog when it comes to their own share of “unique” peripherals. Recent patents they’ve filed in Japan appear to show that they’re reportedly working on hinged Joy-Con controllers.
From the images you can see below, the hinges are placed just below the upper half of the analog stick on the left controller, and the face buttons on the right controller. With the hinges placed where they are, players could set the controllers at specific angles. The pictures even show how this can be done with the Joy-Cons still attached to the system. From the way they are angled in the patent photos, they kind of remind me of the Wii’s Nunchuk controllers.
What do you think of this news? Would you consider purchasing these hinged Joy-Con controllers? Let us know in the comments below.
