As per usual, Nintendo has gone and blindsided us with a sudden Direct announcement out of nowhere. With barely 24 hours’ notice, the Big N has announced that there will be a general Nintendo Direct on June 21st at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. As it stands, all we know is the presentation will feature 40 minutes of content focused on Switch titles releasing this year. Thus far, the only game mentioned by name is Pikmin 4. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess as to what we might see tomorrow.

It’s actually quite exciting not to know what to expect. With Tears of the Kingdom out in the wild, Pikmin 4 is the only first-party Nintendo game on the radar for 2023. No doubt a number of third-party titles will be featured in the Direct, with everything from Persona 5: Tactica to Rift of the NecroDancer slated for release this year. Chances are pretty likely though Pikmin 4 is far from the only thing up Nintendo’s sleeve for show.

I think it’s a little early personally, but there might very well be some hints at some DLC for Tears of the Kingdom popping up. Of course, you could also continue to cling to the hope of the HD re-releases for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess coming to Switch too. Those are becoming close to unicorns at this point though.

Are you looking forward to the Direct? What titles are you hoping to see announced or talked about? Let us know in the comments below!
