Update: In response to the powerful earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan, Nintendo has decided to delay the September 6th Nintendo Direct until further notice. The company will announce a new date and time for the event in the near future.
Our thoughts are with the victims of this disaster and with those involved in the recovery efforts.
Original: Nintendo loves to surprise us with Nintendo Directs out of nowhere. The company has announced that a new Nintendo Direct event will take place on September 6th at 6 PM EST, 3 PM PST. The half-hour live presentation will highlight upcoming games for both the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch.
While we’re not entirely sure what Nintendo has up its sleeves for this Direct, we do know that the 2018 holiday season is quickly approaching. It seems like a fair bet to think that we’ll see more from the games slated for a late 2018 release, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Of course, we did just get a Smash Bros. Direct last month, so Nintendo’s big fighting game may just sit this one out.
You can watch the entire Nintendo Direct with us right here on this page. The event will begin tomorrow at 6 PM EST, 3 PM PST.
