New Tri Force Heroes Details Revealed

Screen Shot 2015-09-24 at 10.05.02 AMThanks to a preview from Nintendo World report we have a ton of new details about the latest adventure in the Zelda series, Tri Force Heroes. The new information pertains to the plot as well as some of the gameplay mechanics in the game, this comes on the heels of the release of the newest trailer from Nintendo of Europe that we shared earlier today, where we learned the name of the endangered kingdom, Hytopia!

Head on past the break to learn more.

The fashion focused kingdom of Hytopia ruled over by King Tuft and his stylish daughter Princess Styla, who is loved by all the land for her loveliness as well as her fantastic fashion sense will be hit with a curse by an evil witch. The curse imprisons the Princess in a horrid unitard that she can never take off.

You will be called upon to play as the Legendary Totem Heroes, who are the kingdoms only hope to stop the evil witch and break her nasty curse. The game is full of missions and puzzles that the three will have to embark on to save the Princess and the land of Hytopia. At the start of your adventure you will be given the opportunity to name your hero and although there does not seen to be many cutscenes throughout the game, there is a cinematic opening. During the course of your journeys you will be able to travel to many different worlds; Woodlands, Riverside, a Volcano, Ice Cavern, and a Fortress.

Each hero is given the opportunity to select an item at the beginning of each level. The decision can be quite crucial as some items are necessary to be able to complete certain levels. As is the totem mechanic, for example when battling Margoma in the Woodlands. This boss is a spinning wheel that hides its eye on top and you have to throw bombs on it, which then reveals the eye so you can hit it with your sword. Once this happens the eye will pop out of the disc and hide, then the hero that selected the bow will have to hunt it down.

The most important aspect of this game has to do with the costumes, and some of them are not all that easy to obtain. Some imbue the wearer with special powers, and one of the new costumes that we haven’t seen before is the Torrent Robe which allows you to make columns of water rise up so that you can complete tasks and reach areas that would have been otherwise unattainable. We also learned about the Timeless Tunic that changes all the sounds and music in the game into 8-bit. There are special materials that you will only be able to acquire by completing certain levels. Once the levels have been completed three chests will appear, where each one of the heroes will be allowed to keep one, as an extra bonus one of the chests will contain very rare materials and there is no telling which one it will be until it has been opened.

We also learned about a new Boss from the games, Blizzagia. A ferocious looking lizard with huge fangs that you will have to beat with the Fire Gloves and Magic Hammer.

There are also ways that you can score some extra materials and special items with a Daily Chance Game and Bonus Mode:

  • Daily Chance; choose from four different chests that contains items, “freebies” or duds that can be sold for rupees, and eventually even gets you the ability to acquire the Dapper Spinner Kit — a fashionable upgrade to the Spin Attack attire which lets you perform a super fast spin attack.
  • Bonus Mode; each level contains three and could range from completing the levels with a certain number of hearts to completing the level in complete darkness!

Now for some of the more technical aspects of the game:

  • Download Play — extra data will be stored on the SD card so that all the materials acquired during gameplay will be saved. However using download play only allows you to earn 2 costumes
  • To find other heroes you can search via Wi-Fi search for a friend using the search or Friend Lobby.
  • Fairies can be used to skip certain parts of levels

What do you think of all the latest details from the game? My excitement has nearly spilt over! Pretty impressive for a game that when it was first announced I was slightly apprehensive about. Can this game really live up to all the hype? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
