Update: New Skyward Sword “Zelda & Loftwing” amiibo Announced, Launches July 16th!

Update: Pre-orders are becoming available for the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo at various online retailers. The amiibo is currently available for pre-order at GameStop right here. The amiibo is listed on Best Buy’s website right here, but pre-orders are not currently available.

The Zelda & Loftwing amiibo is listed for $24.99 USD.

Original: Most of our readers are aware of the release of Skyward Sword HD on Nintendo Switch this July, but today we have received additional news regarding the remastered game. Nintendo has announced a new amiibo in the lineup: Zelda and her Loftwing!

The trailer above shows that this amiibo functions similarly to Farore’s Wind in Ocarina of Time, creating a sort of warp point for the player to return to a specific location on the surface of the overworld. Use the amiibo on the ground or in a temple, and you can return to the sky without needing to reach a Loftwing statue. Use the amiibo again on a sky island (even indoors!), and you can return to the place where you scanned the amiibo! This functionality is a huge bonus and will make navigation much easier. Besides that, the amiibo is absolutely lovely and features the bright and whimsical colors that Skyward Sword is known for.

The Zelda and Loftwing amiibo will become available on July 16th!
