New Podcast Celebrating Fanfiction Begins With a Focus on Zelda

While fanfiction has been a part of the internet since its inception, it has not always been regarded very highly. Recently, one of Zelda Dungeon’s own writers, Alexandria Weber — who goes by the pen name fatefulfaerie — decided to create a podcast with several friends in the Zelda community called Behind The Fic with two main intentions; the first intent is celebrating fanfiction as a whole, while the second is reassuring writers that their fanfic works should be as respected as any other form of writing.

Each season of Behind The Fic is intended to have 20 episodes covering a main theme. The first season is called “The Legendary Chapter” and will focus entirely on Zelda-themed fanfiction. Each episode starts with an excerpt chosen and read by the author of the work being featured. Following this is a Q&A about the author’s full work with spoilers and their writing process, ending with a listener-submitted question answered by the author and both co-hosts.

This week’s episode features the work Of Memories by aurathian, which is set in the post-game universe of Breath of the Wild. The next episode is set to feature Eternal Shipwreck of our Hopes by DrSteggy, another work set after the events of Breath of the Wild.
