New Layout and Site Changes

What is this? A new layout?! Why yes, it most certainly is. This new layout is bigger and better than ever before, and it has many new changes that you may see right from the start. I’ll walk you through every change we’ve made to the site so you can become familiar with its many new features. Let’s start from the top, shall we?

At the top, you’ll notice we now have a Network bar, with both Zelda Dungeon and Pokemon Dungeon listed. This is part of a new network called Dungeon Gaming Enterprises. This entire project will be talked about in a later news post, so keep an eye out.

As you continue down the page, you’ll see our brand new game layout bar. While it may look similar, it is actually quite different than the previous one. Each Zelda game now has its name displayed beneath an image associated with the game, and each game still has dropdown menus to link to our various walkthroughs, galleries, and guides.

As you near the middle of the bar, you’ll start to see brand new games listed that were not there before. These include Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, Zelda Wii U, Zelda 3DS, and a section called “Other Games” for the other smaller Zelda games, including the Tingle games and the three CD-I games. From my own experience, I know I get asked the question “Why don’t you have a Four Swords or Four Swords Adventures section on your site” all the time. It has become almost a daily question, and taking your requests in mind and our goal of being the best Zelda website you’ll find, we decided to add all of these sections to the site.

Let me first talk about the Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures sections. Four Swords has nothing more than an overview page at the current time, but we plan in the future to create a walkthrough or guide of sorts for the game, along with an enemy guide, boss guide, and many other features you see in other sections. As for Four Swords Adventures, it also has little more than an overview page, but I can speak for the section when saying that I am working on creating a walkthrough for that very game, albeit in text format only at the current time. This section will be updated frequently in the near future, so be sure to check back often.

Continuing down the bar, you’ll see a Zelda Wii U and Zelda 3DS section. You may think at first, “Well, why have these sections, as only one 3DS game has been released?” We created these sections to prepare for the future when Zelda games will be released on these systems. These sections will also give you updates and info on the new Zelda games when they do happen to appear.

Finally, you’ll find the Other Games section. This section will contain the Tingle games, along with the three Zelda CD-I games. These pages also contain very little at the current time, but we plan to update these in the future to contain walkthroughs, guides and galleries for all of the games in this section. Mases has already started work on this, creating a video walkthrough and site walkthrough for the Wand of Gamelon, along with an enemy guide for the game, so be sure to check those out.

As we continue down the page to the bottom-right of the game layout bar, you’ll see buttons for the various social media sites. These include the RSS Feed for our news posts, Zelda Dungeon’s Youtube channel, which also has a brand new layout, along with over 24,000 subscribers. Our resident walkthrough man Caleb is also posting the Majora’s Mask Video Walkthrough, so be sure to check it out and subscribe if you like what you see.

To the right you’ll find a Facebook Button that will lead you to Zelda Dungeon’s Facebook page, which just today reached 15,000 likes. Be sure to check out that page and like it as well. This bar also contains a link to the our Twitter account, with over 1,800 followers, and links to Zelda Dungeon’s deviantart and twitch.tv account.

As you continue further down the page, you’ll see our content area for news posts. This area is still relatively the same, but now has a ‘Like’ button, a ‘Tweet’ button, and buttons to like for reddit and Digg. This allows you to tell about this news post on these various social media sites right from the news post.

So what do you think about Zelda Dungeon’s new layout, Dungeon Gaming Enterprises, Pokemon Dungeon, and our revamped forums? Is this everything you hoped and dreamed of in a Zelda site? Tell us in the comments below!
