dl_link_01And so, another NicoNico stream has gone by, with it’s share of anticipation and disappointment. One of the things provided in today’s stream was our first look at the new DLC costumes for Hyrule Warriors, with a stunning level of detail and dedication given to them.

This first trailer presents us with the new Link costumes in action. We see that these costumes go a step beyond just putting the character models in a new set of clothes, and outright change the model. Ocarina of Time Link looks as if he was directly ripped from Ocarina 3D, with notable lack of edged facial features, while Twilight Princess Link looks as if he had just come out of Twilight Princess. His texture quality is darkened to reflect that style. And, of course, the same must be said for Skyward Sword Link, whose color palette, facial structure, and outfit is completely different from the other two.

The same applies for Princess Zelda. Her Ocarina model has been notably revamped from her Ocarina of Time 3D appearance though with notable aesthetic additions to her outfit to give her more splendor. One thing to note of the Twilight Princess model though, is that it seems to be the same Zelda mold added to a different dress and hair style, because their faces are very similar. The same cannot be said for Skyward Sword Zelda, whose entire mold looks ripped from Skyward Sword, with the same youthful vigor and all.

I can safely say that I adore all these costumes, and the effort to make them very unique, and if they come to the US edition of the game, I’d buy them in a heartbeat. My only slight disappointment is that the voices are the same between each costume, but I suppose that would be asking too much to bring back the original actors just for a few grunts.

What did you think of these costumes? Did they do justice to previous incarnations of the Triforce duo? Do you believe there will be more costumes incoming? Be sure to state your thoughts in the comments section below.
