Majora’s Memes – Hey Listen

It had to happen eventually. It was only a matter of time before we all had to listen. Welcome to this week’s Majora’s Memes, where we present and examine memes related to the Legend of Zelda series. This week we’ll be looking at one of the more infamous memes the series has spawned, so enter at your own risk to hear about…Navi.

Many of you are no doubt familiar with Navi the fairy, Link’s companion from Ocarina of Time. While some appreciate Navi’s role as one of Link’s first friends, many can’t get past one simple thing: her annoying voice and tendency to interrupt unnecessarily. This also set the standard in 3D Zelda games of having a fairly chatty companion, such as Navi’s spiritual successor Tatl, the King of Red Lions, Midna, and (perhaps the most controversial) Fi. How annoying Navi actually is is up for debate, but it’s infamous enough that it became a widespread Zelda meme. Below are just a few of the permutations Navi has been inserted into, starting with the ever-popular Demotivational.
