Welcome to Majora’s Memes, where we bring you memetic madness weekly!

Like scouring Hyrule Field for bushes that hopefully contain Rupees or bombs or arrows, we search the Internet for Zelda-related laughs. We have a big announcement this week, but I’ll save that for the end. Or…you know, you could skip this article and get to the announcement, but I find that building up tension by reading the article makes for a more rewarding surprise, don’t you? Anyway, let’s get to it and jump in.

First off, here’s that one I mentioned last week that I was saving. Well the time is right. To commemorate the Virtual Console re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons, I give you this post from Clucknadus on Memebase.

And there’s this one from HeartOfWolves. I’ve been enjoying moon-related memes lately. Definitely not because I’m playing through Majora’s Mask or anything… (And you know, why haven’t we been back to the moon since 1972?)

Consider this a preview to an article I’m working on right now (you should see it in a few days).

This week, our user contributed meme comes from Davsto.

That’s it for this week’s Majora’s Memes! And now, a special announcement. For almost as long as this feature has existed, I’ve asked for the community’s help in finding memes to share. I’ve encouraged some to make their own, and have even started making them myself. However, the number of user-made memes has been much lower than user-found memes. In order to change that, I’m thrilled to announce our first Zelda Dungeon Meme Making Contest! Next week, there won’t be a Majora’s Memes post in the strictest sense, but I’ll officially open the contest. In the comments for that post (not this one), post your own homemade memes. Here are the rules:

1. The meme MUST be yours. We’re going on an honor system here, but if I happen to find a meme identical (or suspiciously similar) to yours, you’re disqualified.
2. The meme must be Zelda-related. The image doesn’t have to be Zelda-related necessarily, or the meme doesn’t have to be Zelda-related necessarily, but one of those has to be. Necessarily.
3. Seriously, don’t post it on this week. If you post it on this week, I’ll just ignore it.
4. Entrants must be in by 5:00 a.m. EDT June 10 (exactly two weeks after this post). Entrants will be judged during the following week, with the winner announced on June 17.
5. ANYONE can enter. Even Zelda Dungeon staff members!
6. Unfortunately, there’s no prize, but hey no pressure! The winner is simply the winner.
