Mojang’s massive open-world sandbox game Minecraft and its hyperactive community are always overflowing with the most magnificent builds from mining addicts across the globe, and within the pile of cubic rubble are a vast majority of absolutely brilliant replicas – and this Majora’s Mask Opening Sequence recreation is one of those dazzling gems. Crafted by YouTube user Slickpacho146 and his team, the cinematic sequence fully embraces all the eerie atmosphere and the adventurous tone from the original opening cinematic – but of course in a beautiful blocky rendition.

The Minecraft short features the opening scene of Link riding through the forest on Epona, until he encounters the menacing Skull Kid along with his notorious faeries Tatl and Tael – who help Skull Kid steal Epona from Link, allowing him to run off into the distance and leaving Link with Tatl until he falls to his inevitable terrible fate. Within this first cinematic you’ll notice that Link is on a pig while chasing after Epona, as Minecraft doesn’t allow a player to run that fast – either that or it’s there for laughs. Following this, the wonderfully made Minecraft Clock Town is shown, along with a little introduction to the grand depths of Termina. Sadly, there’s no recreation of a gigantic terrifying Moon but that’s no big deal as Slickpacho still managed to edit the image of the moon in without a problem.
