Majora’s Mask Limited Edition Adventure Set

Do you happen to have… $4000 around the house and are looking for something to spend it on? Probably not and neither do I. If we lived in a fantasy world where we can pay in monopoly money, or better yet, rupees, I think that this Majora’s Mask Adventure Set might be something worth buying. This is one of the crowning jewels of any Legend of Zelda collection set and something I WILL one day own. Unfortunately that day is not anytime soon since I just don’t have this type of money. With only 1000 of them ever made and the vast majority of them locked up, never to be seen again, it’s quite rare to ever find these online in auctions. Yet here we have one, listed on ebay, currently selling for well over $3000. Go ahead and make the jump to see a larger image.

The auction is set to end just 14 hours from the time I’m making this post. I have no idea what price it will end for, but whatever it is, it’s going to be a heck of a lot more than most people would ever dream of spending the money on. Just imagine, if you purchased say… 100 of these when they released in 2000. Then if you held on to them for 10 years, and then sold them, one by one, making nearly $4000 per auction. That would be a good way to make nearly a half a million dollars, wouldn’t it?

As an avid Zelda collector this is one of the items I’d like to someday get my hands on. It sometimes saddens me to see the amount of money some of these rare collectibles go for. I’ve gotten use to paying 2000 percent the original price for some goodies. Ya that’s right, that’s 20x the original value. Heck just a few weeks ago I bought a collection of action figures from Ocarina of Time, originally priced at $7.99 a piece… and I bought the set of 3 for $200… and that was a bargain that I had to negotiate with the seller! It really makes you wonder, what items that are available now are going to be worth several hundred dollars in just 10 years?
