One of the places that has always mystified me is Astral Observatory from Majora’s Mask. The planetarium-like room is one of the most unique locations in the game, and the player must go there in order to progress beyond the first three-day cycle. The musical theme accompanying this odd building is one of the most distinct in the game, with the haunting song creates a sense of wonder and mystery.
This guitar cover of “Astral Observatory” by Epic Game Music is a wild take on the song. The remix opens with the acoustic guitar playing the mesmerizing introductory rhythm that the song is famous for. At the 30 second mark, a smooth electric guitar enters the song, adding another layer of sound to the piece. Overall, in the first two minutes of this cover, it seems to share the relaxing tone of the original tune.
After about two minutes, a thrilling electric guitar injects a new sense of energy and urgency into the song. Coupled with some stylish power cords, along with the continuing acoustic guitar, and the song has a completely new identity. At the end of the song, there is a final explosion of sound from the electric guitar and the acoustic guitars gently finishes off the song, slowly fading out.
