Listen to this Stirring “Ballad of the Wind Fish” Arrangement

Since the announcement of Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch earlier this year, the game been bathed in attention from the Zelda and video game community at large. This renewed interest has resulted in an increase in discussions, analysis, fan art, and musical covers.
This “Ballad of the Windfish” cover by popular violinist Taylor Davis is one of the many wonderful covers to premiere since the Link’s Awakening announcement. This arrangement begins gently with a string introduction, before Davis’s violin cuts in with the main melody. The song increases its speed and tempo in the middle of the song, adding a strong percussion backing. From there, the song slows down, taking on the more mournful tone that many people associate with the legendary tune.
It’s wonderful to see this song, as well as Link’s Awakening as whole, receiving so much attention from across the music and video game community. There’s no doubt that this trend will continue as the game gets closer and closer to release.
