Just 3 Days YouTube user MandoPony relays to fellow Zelda fans a rather interesting perspective of Majora’s Mask in his own original song, “Just 3 Days”. Inspired by the game– which he claims to possibly be his favorite Zelda game– MandoPony sings from the Skull Kid’s point of view, expressing a side of the story that no one has really seen before.

In this music video we get the Skull Kid’s story, and how he changes under the influence of Majora’s mask over the three day span. He starts off as a lonely child playing pranks, but then he stumbles upon the mask salesman and by day three he’s drastically evolved into a vengeful and spiteful being. The art in the video conveys as much as, so with each passing day the mask all but consumes our poor Skull Kid.

Despite the dark presence in the story, I felt very deeply moved by this piece. It’s interesting and clever, and has that ominous emotional hook that the game itself channels towards its audience. I don’t know what to call it, but whatever that thing is in Majora’s Mask that so captivates players, this song has it.

Did you enjoy the song? Do you find it interesting to get a little bit of insight into the main antagonist’s point of view? If another song was written about a different character, who would you like it to be? Let us know with some comments below!
