Recently Game Trailers sat down with Takashi Tezuka, the General Manager of the EAD Software development department at Nintendo. Tezuka gave explanations on the development process of the Legend of Zelda series over the years, the evolution of the Zelda timeline, his involvement in the development of the first game, the inspiration of the franchise, and their thought process behind the creation of the universe.

To see the entire interview with Tezuka and more hit the jump!

Tezuka’s interview answered some interesting questions about his role in the development process of the original game, and what they did to mold it into what it is, the first thing he mentioned was the story stating that:

“It was an adventure game, as we went from there we were kind of beefing it up, so you kind of just make it up as you go along, there was no real inspiration or source in general.”

He also mentioned the timeline saying:

“While we didn’t have an official timeline setup, we did keep documentation that has helped form our official timeline of today.”

It is always very interesting to see one of the creators of the original game in a franchise, especially Zelda, to give his thoughts, details, and insight on the creation process and the mindset behind it. It helps to show the kind of work that was put into the classic games that we love and enjoy.

But what do you think about Tezukas interview? Let us know in the comments below.
