Hyrule Warriors Sells Strongly in UK

In the first of its Western territory releases, Hyrule Warriors has done remarkably well. The hybrid hack and slash game released last Friday in the UK and sold enough to score a placement in not only the top twenty best selling games for the week in the UK, but the top 5. Beating out fellow new releases Disney Infinity 2.0 (for each of its respective systems) and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, it merely fell short of the sales crown to the insanely successful Destiny (featured in last week’s podcast). The full software sales for the top forty games are as follows:

While it is rather exciting to see the title being so well received in the West, it should be noted that Hyrule Warriors appears to have all but disappeared from the top of the Japanese sales charts, just weeks after its spectacular release there. It will be interesting to see if the coming weeks see this title falling far in the UK charts, or if the US release is similarly strong. Perhaps the recent news regarding post-release support for the game will help keep sales going a little longer?
